Quartet of Seahawks garner all-conference nods
Four Seahawks have been named to the 2013 Commonwealth Coast Conference all-conference team for men’s lacrosse. Taylor Braun ’13, Michael Horn ’13, Curtis McKeon ’14 and Steven Russell ’15 were named to the honorable mention team.
Braun earned a spot on the honorable mention midfield after his best season as a Seahawk. For the year, he recorded 32 points (18 goals, 14 assists) while picking up 23 ground balls. Braun recorded a pair of hat tricks this season, both times against University of the New England.
Horn and Russell each earned a spot on the honorable mention defense for their work in the Seahawk backfield. Horn scored a pair of goals for Salve Regina while picking up 29 ground balls and causing 21 turnovers this season. Russell was second on the team in ground balls with 62 while leading the team with 39 caused turnovers. He tallied seven points on the year on four goals and three assists.
McKeon was named an honorable mention face-off midfielder for his impressive work at the “X” this season. He won 232-of-378 (.614) of his face-offs while scooping up a team-leading 169 ground balls. McKeon broke his own single-season ground ball record on his way to becoming the all-time leader at Salve Regina with 387 so far in his three-year career. He was second on the team in scoring this season with 40 points (22 goals, 18 assists).
