Hohlfelder advances to ballot for Academic All-America
Joshua Hohlfelder ’14 was one of six named to the Capital One Academic All District 2 First Team, which was released last week by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Hohlfelder advances to the ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, which will be released Feb. 19.
A business studies major, Hohlfelder has posted a team-best 3.86 GPA. In 2012, he earned a spot on the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Academic All-Conference Team. The Seahawks reached the championship final in each of his first two seasons.
On the court, Hohlfelder has started every game for Salve Regina this season and is the team’s second-leading scorer with 11.5 points per game. Salve Regina ranks first in the conference in free-throw percentage, with Hohlfelder contributing his 86.1 percent accuracy.
“I am very proud of Joshua Hohlfelder’s many accomplishments thus far at Salve Regina,” said head coach Sean Foster. “Josh is exactly what we want all of our student athletes to be – a great person, a scholar and a tireless worker on the basketball court. Josh’s academic honors are well deserved and we are fortunate to have him back for another year to help lead our program on and off the court.”
The awards are nominated and voted on by members of CoSIDA. Candidates must have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher, have reached their sophomore year of school and be contributing starters or reserves on the varsity team.
