Dance marathon benefiting Hasbro Children’s Hospital
An annual fundraising event, SalveTHON will be held Saturday, Feb. 23 in Ochre Court. From 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., participants will stand for 12 hours straight to raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network benefiting Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence.
SalveTHON is one of the only dance marathons in Rhode Island. Throughout the day, there will be music, dancing, games, crafts and other activities to keep participants on their feet for 12 hours. If that doesn’t keep you going, then the patients and families from Hasbro Children’s Hospital who will stop by throughout the day will.
The fundraising goal for this year is $20,000. In order to make this year’s SalveTHON the most successful event yet, all members of the University community are invited to register and participate. If you cannot attend, you can still register as a “spirit dancer” and raise funds for the cause.
The Children’s Miracle Network raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals that provide 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada. Donations stay local to fund critical treatments and health care services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care. Since 1991, students across North America have raised more than $250 million for local children’s hospitals.
