Roundtable discussion focusing on video game violence
An upcoming roundtable discussion moderated by Dr. D. Matthew Ramsey, associate professor and chairman in the Department of English, Communications and Media, will explore the topic of “Video Game Violence and Moral Panics.”
With every new mass shooting, the question arises: Why did they do it? The answer from the media and politicians is often, at least partly, video game violence. This roundtable discussion will explore the connections between video games and violent behavior, and ask why society often seeks easy answers to complex questions.
The roundtable discussion will be held at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18 in the O’Hare Academic Building, Room 242. Sponsored by the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy, roundtable discussions are open to Salve Regina students, faculty and staff. The Pell Center provides a free lunch.
As space is limited, those interested in attending should RSVP to (401) 341-2927 or pellcenter@salve.edu.
