“Song for My Bulbs” by Christine Rodgers

It seems so

preposterous

so absurd

to imagine

anything

coming

from this

layers of

sand

and

dirt

and rock.

How

could

anything

alive

possibly

push

past

all that.

And yet,

there are

small

fierce

green

shoots

unmistakable

signs of life

pushing

through

and it

gives

me

great courage.
