Athletes earn conference honors: Week of Oct. 22
Congratulations to the following student athletes, who received honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference for the week of Oct. 22:
Field hockey
Allison Gold ’16 was named the rookie of the week. She had four points on a pair of goals during Salve Regina’s 5-2 victory over Western New England University last week. Gold now has eight points on her rookie campaign, including three goals and two assists.
Men’s cross country
Sean Hughes ’16 was named was named runner of the week for the third time and rookie of the week for the sixth time. Facing competition that included 10 Division I schools, he finished 37th overall out of a field of 115 runners at the Central Connecticut State University Mini-Meet last Friday, completing the 5,000-meter course in 16:24.
Hughes will compete for runner of the year honors this weekend as he leads the Seahawks into the conference championships at Western New England University.
Women’s cross country
Aubrey Palmquist ’16 was named runner of the week for the second time and rookie of the week for the fourth time. Competing against athletes from 11 Division I schools, she finished 40th overall amongst a field of 144 runners at the Central Connecticut State University Mini-Meet last Friday, covering the 3,000-meter course in 11:09.
