Atwood Lecture focusing on MLK’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail”
Justin Dyer, assistant professor of political science at the University of Missouri, will present a lecture on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 in the Bazarsky Lecture Hall as part of the Atwood Lecture Series.
Dyer, who specializes in American politics, researches the fields of American political development, political philosophy and constitutional law. A particular focus of his research has been the interaction between the American political tradition and the perennial philosophy of natural law.
Dyer’s related projects include articles and books on American antislavery constitutionalism, the political thought of Abraham Lincoln, abortion politics in historical context, and Dr. King’s appropriation and use of the natural law tradition in the struggle for civil rights.
Dyer completed his Ph.D. at the University of Texas.
