Baseball team making waves in New England
Just a few days after the release of the New England coaches’ poll, in which the baseball team received votes in the regional rankings for the first time since 2006, the NCAA released its first regional rankings of the 2013 season. The Seahawks landed eighth in the New England region with a record of 26-7 so far on the year.
The Seahawks are also receiving votes in the latest ABCA Collegiate Baseball poll as they take their 10-game winning streak on the road April 26, against Brandeis University.
Two other Commonwealth Coast Conference schools join Salve Regina in the regional rankings as Western New England University is ranked third and Endicott College sits at sixth. Though the Seahawks fell to Western New England in a pair of close games, they do own a win over fourth-ranked Eastern Connecticut State.
Salve Regina wraps up its conference schedule Saturday, April 27 at Cardines Field as the Seahawks host Endicott in a key doubleheader. Currently, Salve Regina is third in the conference, with Endicott and Western New England tied at the top of the standings with just a one-game lead.
