Birrell sets record for goals in a season
Women’s soccer forward Kaitlyn Birrell ’13 set the Salve Regina record for goals in a season Oct. 24 while leading the Seahawks to a 4-0 win over Nichols College. Her three goals marked her fourth hat trick of the year.
The 2011 Commonwealth Coast Conference offensive player of the year, Birrell has now scored 21 goals, including two game-winning goals, and four assists this season.
With Wednesday’s win, the Seahawks solidified the No. 7 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference championship tournament, improving to 8-9-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the conference. Salve Regina will travel to face the No. 2 seed in the quarterfinal round on Saturday, Oct. 27.
