Book discussion series concludes with “Martin Luther: A Life”
The “Reading Christian Classics” book discussion series will conclude Thursday, April 25 with Martin Marty’s “Martin Luther: A Life.” All members of the Salve Regina community, along with friends of the University, are invited to participate.
A scholar who has written extensively on American religion, Marty is a professor emeritus at the University of Chicago and served as a Lutheran pastor from 1952-1962. His biography portrays the religious reformer Martin Luther as a man of conscience and courage who risked death to ignite the historic reformation of the church.
The discussion will be held in the Mercy Center for Spiritual Life beginning at 6:30 p.m. and will last about one hour. Each participant should furnish his or her copy of the book, read it prior to the session and come willing to share interpretations or comments.
“Reading Christian Classics” is co-sponsored by the Department of Philosophy and the Mercy Center for Spiritual Life. For more information, contact Dr. Lois Eveleth, professor of philosophy, at (401) 341-3170.
