Center seeking FYE peer mentors for 2016-2017 academic year
The Center for Student Development is inviting current freshmen, sophomores and juniors to apply for First Year Experience (FYE) peer mentor positions for the 2016-2017 academic year. Peer mentors play an integral role in the success of Salve Regina’s first year students by supporting their transition into the University community.
This rewarding position is a great opportunity for students to gain and hone their communication, leadership, team-building and problem-solving skills.
Having already experienced their first year at Salve Regina, peer mentors have a good understanding of what it’s like to be a student and are aware of available experiences, support services and programs. Peer mentors serve as leaders and resources to students enrolled in the First Year Transitions course and co-teach the course with the instructor.
During the fall semester, peer mentors enroll in a practicum course that guides them in the process of self-assessment and reflection and provides support and resources to assist them in their duties.
Completed applications should be returned to the Center for Student Development in Miley Hall by Wednesday, March 2. For more information, contact the center at (401) 341-3288 or salvecsd@salve.edu.
