Class of 2022 embrace their Senior Challenge, focus on mental wellness
For nearly 25 years, senior classes at Salve Regina have embraced a cause, set a goal and subsequently smashed their Senior Challenge. The Class of 2022 is no different.
Senior Challenge is an opportunity for graduating students to complement their Salve Regina experience by participating in a shared tradition that exemplifies the University’s culture of mercy and philanthropy.
When it was time to choose the cause that most closely connects the Class of 2022 to the campus community, the answer was clear: the Salve Student Wellness Fund. While the experience of every graduating class is different, this year’s seniors have had an experience more unique than most. For the last two years, they have dealt with COVID-19 and the pressures of the pandemic.
As the pandemic became more prolonged, challenges to student wellness became more pronounced, impacting the student experience on every level. No one was untouched. Whether the toll was felt academically, emotionally or financially, achieving personal goals was that much harder. Consequently, the demand for wellness initiatives – including mental health resources – increased.
The Salve Student Wellness Fund was established to address student wellness holistically – emotionally, intellectually, physically, socially and spiritually. Gifts to this fund support initiatives that help students cope, overcome and thrive.
The Class of 2022 Senior Challenge Committee is raising funds for their Senior Challenge through an online campaign. They will also raise funds through community events, senior gatherings and the annual Senior Cocktail Reception.
