Cody named offensive player of the year for field hockey
Forward Amber Cody ’18 was recently named Commonwealth Coast Conference offensive player of the year for field hockey and also earned first-team all-conference accolades. Joining her on the all-conference squad is midfielder Hannah Filiault ’20, who was named to the second team.
Cody leads the league in assists (9) and points (53) while ranking second in goals scored (22). She has had six multi-goal games in 2017, including five at Gordon College on Oct. 7. “For the second season in a row, Amber has been the spark for our offense,” said head coach Jennifer Foster. “She has not only been a goal scorer but has also created many offensive scoring opportunities for our team.”
Filiault has started all 17 games in 2017 and notched an assist in a 5-3 win at Roger Williams University on Sept. 19. “Hannah is a second-year starter as a sophomore and her game experience shows in her consistent play,” Foster said. “Her contributions don’t always show up in the box score but she is very deserving of this conference recognition.”
Salve Regina (10-7, 7-5 CCC) earned the No. 3 seed for the conference championships and will play its semifinal game at No. 2 Endicott College at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1.
