Collins named rookie of the week for men’s basketball
Cameron Collins ’21 was recently named the Commonwealth Coast Conference rookie of the week for men’s basketball.
Collins was an especially efficient shooter from the floor in two wins for Salve Regina. He was 10-for-12 (83.3 percent) from the field in a 64-54 win over Mount Ida College. He followed that up with a 7-for-8 performance against Suffolk University in a 73-64 win. He had 16 points in that contest, bringing his weekly average to 11.0 points per game. In addition to Collins’ hot shooting, he also averaged 5.5 rebounds per game and led all players with eight boards in the Seahawks’ win over Suffolk.
“Cam has a huge upside and tremendous potential in our program,” said head coach Sean Foster. “He’s made great strides in a short time and with hard work will be a foundation player for our future.”
Salve Regina (2-2) opens its conference schedule Wednesday, Nov. 29 when it hosts Eastern Nazarene College in a women’s and men’s doubleheader (5:30 and 7:30 p.m.) at the Rodgers Recreation Center.
