Community Service hosting giant yard sale on campus

The Office of Community Service will hold a giant yard sale on campus Saturday, May 9 to benefit the office’s mission trips. The cash only sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Wakehurst lawn.

Featured items will include kitchenware, clothing, accessories, furniture, books, appliances, decorations and more. Donations will be accepted through May 8, said Shannon Finnell, event organizer. “We have donation bins in all of the residence halls and any donated item can be dropped off in our office, Wakehurst 201,” she said.

Suggested donations include kitchen items, microwaves, dishes, mini-fridges, clothing, jewelry, handbags, accessories, shelves, books, fans, chairs, decorations, mirrors, rugs, lamps, small appliances, sporting equipment and storage bins.

The office is also accepting unopened food, toiletries, gently used towels and linens, school supplies and gym clothes, which will benefit the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, the McKinney Shelter and the Newport Community School.

Finnell said organizers hope to get about 500 items for the sale.
