Community service opportunities: Oct. 16-31

Oct. 16: Confetti Foundation
Volunteers are needed Thursday, Oct. 16 to cut and string birthday banners and tie straws for children who are hospitalized on their birthday. Volunteers will work in the Wakehurst fireplace lobby from 1:30-3 p.m. Transportation is not available for this on-campus event. Volunteer cap: 25.
Oct. 17: Daffodillion project
Volunteers are needed Friday, Oct. 17 to assist Newport’s Daffodillion campaign with bagging daffodils. Volunteers will meet on the oceanside lawn of McAuley Hall at 11 a.m. and will be finished by 4 p.m. Transportation is not available for this on-campus event.
Oct. 17-18 and 24-25: Fortress of Nightmares
Volunteer opportunities for Fort Adams’ Fortress of Nightmares include scaring, security, box office, volunteer care and nightly ops crew. Van transportation is provided – pick up at Miley Hall at 4:30 p.m., return at 10 p.m.
Oct. 19: Climbing With Cluny School 5K
Volunteers are needed Sunday, Oct. 19 to staff a water stop at Cluny School for the Climbing With Cluny School 5K. Van transportation is provided – pick up at Miley Hall at 7:15 a.m., return at 10:30 a.m.
Oct. 22: Newport Hospital
Volunteers are needed Wednesday, Oct. 22 to make cards and flower bouquets for patients. Van transportation is provided – pick up at Miley Hall at 12:45 p.m., return at 3 p.m. Volunteer cap: 12.
Oct. 23: Pell Bridge Run
Volunteers are needed Thursday, Oct. 23 to stuff goodie bags for the Pell Bridge Run. All volunteers will receive a free registration for the Oct. 26 run. This volunteer opportunity will take place at the Newport Visitors Center (Gateway) from 2-5 p.m. This service site is on the trolley line, and volunteers should consult the trolley schedule. Volunteer cap: 15.
