Community service opportunities: October
The Office of Community Service has several service opportunities available during the month of October. To register for one of the service opportunities listed below, or to view all service opportunities, visit the Community Service website.

Tuesday, Oct. 3: Emmanuel Church Soup Kitchen
Volunteers are needed from 4:30-6:30 p.m. to set up, work and clean up the soup kitchen. This site is located on the trolley line.
Friday, Oct. 6: Trinity Church Pumpkin Patch
Volunteers are needed from 4-6 p.m. to unload pumpkins at Trinity Church in Newport. This site is located on the trolley line.
Sunday, Oct. 8: Newport Marathon
Volunteers are needed from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help with dune protection and recycling for the Newport Marathon at Easton’s (First) Beach. Volunteers may sign up for shifts: 5-8 a.m., 8-11 a.m., 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and noon to 3 p.m. Transportation is not provided, as this event is in walking distance from campus.
Thursday, Oct. 12 and Friday, Oct. 13: Daffy Days
Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Wakehurst lawn to pack 45,000 daffodil bulbs in “Let’s Get Daffy” bags, which will be given to Newport residents and businesses to plant throughout the city. Transportation is not available for this on-campus event.
Saturday, Oct. 14: Daffodil Giveaway
Volunteers are needed at Easton’s (First) Beach to distribute daffodil bulbs to Newport residents and businesses. Transportation is not provided, as this event is in walking distance from campus.
Saturday, Oct. 29: Fall Recycling Day
Volunteers are needed at Easton’s (First) Beach from 8 a.m. to noon to set up the event, help traffic flow, greet and breakdown the event. Transportation is not provided, as this event is in walking distance from campus.
