Dance marathon benefiting Hasbro Children’s Hospital
An annual fundraising event, SalveTHON will be held Feb. 23-24 in Ochre Court. From 8 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday, participants will stand for 14 hours straight to raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network benefiting Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence.
SalveTHON is currently the only dance marathon in Rhode Island. Throughout the night, there will be music, dancing, activities and food from local companies to keep participants awake and on their feet for 14 hours. If that doesn’t keep you awake, then the patients and families who will stop by throughout the night will.
Last year’s event raised $18,000. In order to make this year’s SalveTHON the most successful event yet, all members of the University community are invited to register and participate. If you cannot attend, you can still register as a “spirit dancer” and raise funds for the cause.
Faculty and staff are invited to support SalveTHON by participating in Miracle Jean Day on Friday, Feb. 16. Employees may purchase a Children’s Miracle Network sticker for $5 and wear jeans on this day. All proceeds will benefit SalveTHON. Stickers may be purchased from Johanna Mancivalano in Stonor Hall, and students will also visit offices to sell stickers.
This is SalveTHON’s sixth year as a recognized student organization. The executive board includes:
- External chair: Skyla Hudson
- Internal chair: Bern Maligranda

- Catering director: Elise Capozzi
