Demirgioglu, Shuman named men’s soccer team captains
Issa Demirgioglu ’15 and Alec Shuman ’15 have been named the 2013 team captains for the men’s soccer team.
“Each of them legitimized themselves as high-level players this past fall with what they did both on the training pitch and on match day, and have now followed that up with their commitment off the field,” said head coach Craig O’Rourke II. “I think they have already earned the respect of their teammates which will make this period of transition all the easier as we continue to prepare for the start of the 2013 season.”
Both three-year members of the men’s soccer team, Demirgioglu and Shuman helped the program to the NCAA tournament after a 16-win season that also saw the team capture the Commonwealth Coast Conference championship.
Demirgioglu finished the season with 10 points (3 goals, 4 assists), while Shuman helped a defense that allowed just 1.1 goals a game. They will look to lead the Seahawks back to the conference championship game in the upcoming 2013 campaign.
