Drake is offensive lineman of the year, 11 on all-NEFC squad
The New England Football Conference has named Noah Drake ’17 its offensive lineman of the year. In addition, 11 Seahawks have been named to all-conference teams.
Offensive lineman Nico Aronson ’18, defensive end Joe Cuccia ’16, defensive back Joey Farrar ’17, wide receiver Alex Hulme ’16, linebacker Danny Ives ’16, running back Sam Pascale ’17 and tight end Tommy Seaver ’18 were named to the first team. Quarterback Brandan Basil ’17, linebacker Ethan Gambale ’17 and defensive back Francisco Hardacker ’18 were named to the second team.
“Each one of these players deserves this award for the body of work they have put into this season,” said head coach Kevin Gilmartin. “They are all proud of the accomplishments they received as a team, and to receive some individual recognition is a nice addition. To have 11 different players get honored when we only had five returning starters shows the quality of players that compete here at Salve Regina.”
The Seahawks finished their season with a 42-39 victory over Husson University in the inaugural Clayton Chapman Bowl Championship last Friday. In that game, Hulme had 11 catches for 155 yards and three touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with 58 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Pascale set a new single-season record for Salve Regina with 1,482 rushing yards, while Basil produced the first-ever 400-yard passing game for a Salve Regina quarterback. Gambale led the Seahawk defense with 16 tackles, two sacks and three tackles for loss. Ives added 13 tackles and Cuccia had 10.
