Duggan named CCC player of the week
Outside hitter Jennifer Duggan ’15 was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference player of the week for women’s volleyball after helping the Seahawks’ to a 3-0 record last week.
After its school-record nine-match win streak was halted, the women’s volleyball team started another. With a 3-0 mark last week, including a second triumph over Framingham State University, the Seahawks upped their record to 12-1 overall. No matches have been played in the conference.
Duggan contributed both offensively and defensively as she averaged 3.40 kills per set and 4.00 digs per set on the week, while earning two double-doubles. In a 3-0 win over Eastern Connecticut State University, she recorded a double-double with 11 kills (hitting .346) and 10 digs. Against Newbury College, Duggan earned 10 kills and nine digs. In a 3-1 victory over Framingham State, she recorded her second double-double on the week with 13 kills and 21 digs.
Salve Regina begins its Commonwealth Coast Conference schedule with a road match at Eastern Nazarene College on Thursday, Sept. 26 and follows with a home match against Wentworth Institute of Technology on Saturday, Sept. 28.
