Earth Day tree planting ceremony will have special dedications
The University community is invited to attend the Earth Day tree planting ceremony, which will be held on Thursday, April 22 at 3:15 p.m. on the front lawn of McKillop Library.
An annual tradition highlighting the Arboretum at Salve Regina, this year’s event is particularly meaningful with two special dedications. One tree will be planted in memory of Devin Hamilton ’21. Another tree will pay tribute to all those lost throughout the pandemic, as well as those who have served with care and commitment to others.
The ceremony will include remarks by Dr. Kelli J. Armstrong, president, followed by a blessing and the planting of two Elizabeth Magnolias, which feature large, fragrant, primrose-yellow blooms, adding to the more than 100 unique species and 1,200 trees that comprise the Arboretum at Salve Regina.
The Earth Day tree planting is one of the many ways in which the University is celebrating Earth Week. For a full schedule of activities, visit salve.edu/earth-week.
