Extensions celebrating 10th anniversary with weekend performances
Extensions Dance Company, directed by assistant professor Lindsay Guarino, will celebrate its 10th anniversary with performances at the Casino Theatre March 2-4. Since its inception, Extensions has become known for its athletic, dynamic aesthetic and its commitment to jazz and contemporary concert dance styles.
The weekend’s program will include a range of eclectic choreography from invited guest artists, faculty, notable alumni and current students. Guests include jazz artists Melanie George of Jazz is…Dance Project, Joshua Blake Carter of Giordano Dance Chicago and Los Angeles-based Kirsten Harvey. Contemporary artists include New York City-based Rae-Ann Thomas and Kat Pantos of the Boston-based Pantos Project.
Additional choreographers include Haley Andrews ’18 and Emmaline Concordia ’17, while Olivia Gormley ’17 and Allison Lavoie ’17 will perform solos. In addition, Cayley Christoforou ’15 will present her work “Seek, Seeking, Sought,” which premiered in 2016.
The dance program’s junior company, Extensions II, will also present a new work in the concert by adjunct faculty member Melody Gamba.
Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with an additional matinee at 2 p.m. Saturday.
