Extensions Dance Company presenting “here/now” March 1-3
Editor’s note: The performance scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday, March 2 has been canceled. Tickets for Friday will be honored at either performance on Saturday.
Extensions Dance Company, directed by associate professor Lindsay Guarino, will present “here/now” at the Casino Theatre March 1-3. The concert is a collection of ideas, statements, emotions and stories told through the medium of dance.
Choreographers created their works knowing that they will only exist here/now and – because dance is a living, breathing art form – cannot be replicated in the same exact way ever again. The works range from rhythm-generated jazz to contemporary ballet, and from classical modern to hip-hop.
The program will include a range of dynamic choreography from invited guest artists, faculty and current students. Guests include New England-based Nailah Randall-Bellinger, Eva Marie Pacheco of Providence Ballet Theatre, Betsi Graves from Boston-based Urbanity Dance, Chicago-based Richard Ashworth, and Spencer Gavin Hering and Andrea Dawn Shelley of iMEE Dance Company. Faculty members Lauren Difede, Melody Gamba and Lindsay Guarino will premier new pieces.
Additional choreographers include Haley Andrews ’18 and Lauren Wyble ’18. Solos will be performed by Andrews, Marikate McConnell ’18 and Marissa Masson ’19.
Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with an additional matinee at 2 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $15 for general, $10 for military and seniors and $8 for Salve Regina students, faculty and staff. To reserve tickets, call (401) 341-2250 or visit tinyurl.com/salvecasino. Tickets will also be available at the door.
