Extensions Dance Company to present fall concerts
Extensions Dance Company, directed by assistant professor Lindsay Guarino, will present its fall concerts at the Casino Theatre Nov. 12-14. Pieces range from modern to contemporary jazz and will be performed at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with an additional matinee at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The program will include an eclectic range of physically demanding choreography from esteemed guest choreographers and notable alumni, including Joe Celej, Lauren Difede, Mike Esperanza, Spencer Gavin Hering, Amanda Morton ’15, Kat Pantos, Emily Schoen, Ciara Speller ’15 and Emily Sulock ’12.
Additionally, Salve Regina’s junior company, Extensions II, will perform for the first time at the Casino Theatre in a piece by Island Moving Company’s Difede.
Each year, Salve Regina’s dance program invites choreographers from around the country to work with the dancers in the program and set choreography in an intensive-style process.
New York City-based choreographer Esperanza is a faculty member at Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway and Peridance, three of the most well known dance training facilities in the world. An award winning and nationally recognized choreographer, he set an original contemporary piece titled “Limbs.”
Pantos is a Boston-based choreographer and artistic director of Pantos Project. Her works have been performed at the prestigious Jacob’s Pillow and throughout the New England region. Her piece “She Said, She Said” is intense, athletic and dynamic.
Celej and Schoen hail from New York City and Hering is a California native. All three choreographers have had impressive performing careers and have established themselves nationally as in-demand choreographers.
Tickets for all performances are $15 for general, $10 for seniors and military and $8 for Salve Regina students, faculty and staff. To purchase tickets, call (401) 341-2250 or visit tinyurl.com/salvecasino.
