Extensions premiering six pieces by distinguished guest choreographers
Extensions Dance Company, directed by associate professor Lindsay Guarino, will perform at the Casino Theatre Nov. 2-4. Now in its 11th year, the company has become known for its athletic, dynamic aesthetic and its commitment to jazz and contemporary concert dance styles.
The upcoming program will include premiers of six pieces choreographed by distinguished guest artists. Buffalo-based Jon Lehrer of Lehrer Dance and Boston-based Betsi Graves of Urbanity Dance both set pieces from the repertoire of their respective dance companies. Additional guest artists include Spencer Gavin Hering and Andrea Dawn Shelley, artistic directors of internationally touring iMEE Dance Company; Richard Ashworth, a dancer and drummer for Chicago-based Be the Groove; and Shane Farrell of Newport’s Island Moving Company.
“Weight of the World” by Marissa Masson ’19 and “Seek, Seeking, Sought” by Cayley Christoforou ’15 will also be performed. Both pieces were selected for the Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, and Extensions performed the works last August at the Boston Center for the Arts in front of audiences, critics and leaders in the dance community.
Additional choreographers include Allison Lavoie ’17 and Haley Andrews ’18.
Performances will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with an additional matinee at 2 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $15 for general, $10 for military and seniors and $8 for Salve Regina students, faculty and staff. To reserve seats, call (401) 341-2250 or visit tinyurl.com/salvecasino. Tickets will also be available immediately prior to each performance at the box office.
