Extensions presenting spring concerts Feb. 26-28
Extensions Dance Company, directed by Lindsay Guarino, will present its annual spring concerts at the Casino Theatre Feb. 26-28. This year’s program includes an eclectic range of choreography from renowned guest choreographers, faculty and select students.
Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with an additional matinee at 2 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $15 for general, $10 for seniors and military and $8 for students and faculty. To purchase tickets, call (401) 341-2250 or visit tinyurl.com/salvecasino.
Spencer Gavin Hering, associate artistic director of Island Moving Company and co-founding artistic director of iMEE (infinite movement ever evolving), created an original work for the company titled “Schön.” His highly developed movement vocabulary offers dynamic fluidity through a contemporary aesthetic.
Rhode Island-based artist Shura Baryshnikov seeks the creative space to inspire personal exploration and performer versatility in her piece titled “Fete.” Emily Schoen, dancer with the acclaimed Keigwin + Company and choreographer for Schoen Movement Company, explores relationships between those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and their families in her piece titled “Mind the Gap.”
Cayley Christoforou ’15 will present her work “Noire,” which was selected for the 2014 Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, along with her most recent work titled “Enclosure.”
Additional choreography will range from jazz to modern, with pieces from Guarino, faculty member Ali Brodsky, New York-based guest artist Christen Quattlebaum, and students Jenna-Lyn Geysen ’16, Allison Lavoie ’17, Amanda Morton ’15, Lexie Stewart ’16, Kayla Tolman ’15 and Tatiana Trapani ’15.
