Faculty workshop focusing on integrating community-based learning
Faculty who are interested in involving their students in community-based experiential learning are invited to explore their options during “Integrating Community-Based Learning Into Your Course,” a workshop scheduled for noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27.
Sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning along with the offices of Arts and Sciences, Career Development and Community Service, the workshop will be held in the center’s faculty suite in the McKillop Library, Room 007.
The workshop will engage faculty who are exploring options for integrating community-based pedagogies and student learning outcomes into courses for either spring or fall 2015. Participants will be able to access information about the University’s many community partners and meet staff that can provide support for their work.
Participants will:
- Learn about existing service learning or career-related assignments embedded in courses at Salve Regina and beyond.
- Explore how their experiential component could become the basis for a professional development opportunity in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
- Share ideas with colleagues and refine their own.
Lunch will be provided. Participants should bring a syllabus for the course in which they envision a community component.
RSVPs are requested. Faculty who are interested in attending may register online.
