Field hockey players earn conference honors
The Commonwealth Coast Conference recently named Allison Gold ’16 defensive player of the week and Abigail Tepper ’16 offensive player of the week for field hockey.
Gold was solid on defense for the Seahawks in a 2-0 week. The last two conference matchups have been 1-0 shutouts as Gold and her teammates allowed just six shots on frame. “Allie anchors our defense,” said head coach Jennifer Foster. “She has great anticipation and stick on defense. She shut down our opponents’ forwards last week in our two wins.”
TepperĀ registered the game-winning goal in the 43rd minute against defending conference champion University of New England last Saturday. Earlier in the week, she scored a goal and added an assist in a 6-3 victory at Lasell College. “Abby is a leader on our forward line,” Foster said. “She brings energy to our play and has a great touch in the circle, which showed in our win over UNE.”
Salve Regina hosts Roger Williams University at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 during Fall Festival Weekend. The Seahawks currently rank third in the league standings.
