Football ranked No. 1 in New England
After a 41-24 victory over Endicott College on homecoming weekend, the Salve Regina football team was selected as the No. 1 team in the region by the New England Division III football poll.
The Seahawks, who are now a perfect 4-0 on the season, ran away with the top spot, earning 20 of a possible 26 first-place votes. Salve Regina currently holds the longest winning streak in all of Division III, capturing 10 straight victories dating back to October of last season, and has earned a spot on the “others receiving votes” list in the national rankings over the past several weeks.
The Seahawks face another tough challenge this week, traveling to face Western New England University on the road Saturday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. The Golden Bears are ranked No. 6 in the region and have beaten the Seahawks in each of the past three seasons, with each victory coming by five points or less.
