Gallery hosting reception, artist talk for “What I Keep”
The Dorrance H. Hamilton Gallery will host a reception and artist talk for Susan Mullally’s “What I Keep,” which has been on display in the gallery since Oct. 1. The reception will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, with Mullally’s artist talk at 6 p.m.
A photographic portrait of survival told through the personal items that individuals cherish most, “What I Keep” is a collaborative project that addresses ideas of class, race, value, ownership and cultural identification.
“What I Keep” includes more than 60 portraits, made on Sunday mornings under I-35 at the Church Under the Bridge in Waco, Texas. It consists of life-size images with brief personal statements by and about each person’s choice. The Hamilton Gallery exhibition contains nearly two dozen prints, all 42×28 inches.
“What I Keep” will be on display in the gallery through Wednesday, Nov. 4. The exhibit is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The gallery is closed on Mondays.
