Gallery hosting Rhode Island Scholastic Art Awards exhibit
For the fourth consecutive year, the Dorrance H. Hamilton Gallery is hosting the Rhode Island Scholastic Art Awards exhibit, an extraordinary survey of the best young talent working in the middle and high school art programs across the state of Rhode Island. This annual show features more than 100 outstanding examples of student work in drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics, sculpture and design.
The 2013 exhibition will run through Wednesday, Feb. 6. The campus community and the general public are invited to attend the award ceremony and opening reception for the artists on Sunday, Jan. 27. The award ceremony will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. in the Bazarsky Lecture Hall. The reception will run from noon to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. in the gallery.
The Rhode Island Art Education Association will sponsor a series of workshops on Saturday, Jan. 26 for all winning students and their teachers. Workshops will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30-4 p.m. in the Antone Academic Center. Click here for more information.
The gallery is handicap accessible with parking along Lawrence and Leroy avenues. Its exhibits are open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays and from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The gallery is closed on Mondays.
