Gambale named defensive player of the week

Linebacker Ethan Gambale ’17 has been named defensive player of the week by the New England Football Conference and the Eastern College Athletic Conference.

Gambale led all players with 15 tackles (eight solo) and had 1.5 sacks as Salve Regina’s defense stiffened late in the second quarter and held Western New England University without points until the final minute. He also executed a fake punt late in the fourth quarter with an eight-yard gain on fourth-and-three that kept alive the Seahawks’ game-tying touchdown drive.

Salve Regina travels to New Britain, Connecticut on Friday, Nov. 20 to play Husson University in the ECAC Clayton Chapman Bowl Championship.
