Governor’s Ball celebrates 40 years of scholarship fundraising
Salve Regina’s annual Governor’s Ball, which has a longstanding tradition of raising money for student scholarships, has been a highlight of the holiday season for 40 years.
Open to all members of the University community along with local business leaders, alumni, parents and friends, the 2016 ball will be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 in Ochre Court.
Salve Regina, with the assistance of former governor J. Joseph Garrahy, established the Governor’s Ball in 1977 to introduce outside support for the University and to raise scholarship funds for Salve Regina students. This act of goodwill has benefited countless students over the years. To date, the ball has raised nearly $7 million toward academic assistance and has become a well-known holiday tradition in Rhode Island.
