History, American studies majors to give thesis presentations

The Department of History and the American studies program will hold their annual senior thesis presentations Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7 in the DiStefano Lecture Hall. Seven seniors are scheduled to present and defend their theses throughout the two-day period.
Members of the Salve Regina community and the general public are invited to attend, and may stay for any length of time. The schedule is:
Friday, Dec. 6
- 2 p.m. – Isabelle Gillibrand: “A Different Master of War: The Influence of the Folk Music Revival on the Antiwar Movement During the Vietnam Era”
- 2:45 p.m. – Kylee Babcock: “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend: The All-American Girls Professional Baseball League and the Struggle Between Femininity and Athleticism”
- 3:30 p.m. – Kathleen Christ: “Pittsburgh’s Faithful Servants: The Antebellum Origins of the Sisters of Mercy in America”
- 4:15 p.m. – Calissa Silva: “‘A Time Comes When Silence is Betrayal’: The Intersection of African American Soldiers and the Civil Rights Movement during the Vietnam War”
Saturday, Dec. 7
- 8:30 a.m. – Jennifer Page: “The Forgotten Sins of Robert E. Lee: How a Confederate Icon Became an American Icon”
- 9:15 a.m. – Karina Rapoza: “A Little Rebellion Now and Then: Thomas Jefferson’s Influence on Lafayette and the Declaration of the Rights of Man”
- 10 a.m. – Vigen Ciottone: “My Brother’s Keeper: Robert Kennedy’s Role in the Cuban Missile Crisis”
