Hohlfelder advances to ballot for Academic All-America
Joshua Hohlfelder ’14, a forward on the men’s basketball team, was one of five students named to the Capital One Academic All District 2 First Team. He is advancing to the ballot for the Academic All-America Team for the second consecutive year.
A business studies major, Hohlfelder has posted a team-best 3.88 GPA. In 2012 and 2013, he earned a spot on the Commonwealth Coast Conference academic all-conference team. On the court, Hohlfelder has started 18 of 21 games for Salve Regina this season and is the team’s fourth-leading scorer.
“I am very proud of Joshua Hohlfelder’s many accomplishments thus far at Salve Regina,” said his head coach Sean Foster. “Josh is exactly what we want all of our student athletes to be – a great person, a scholar, and a tireless worker on the basketball court. Josh’s academic honors are well deserved and we are fortunate to have him back for another year to help lead our program on and off the court.”
The awards are nominated and voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. Candidates must have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher, have reached their sophomore year of school, and be contributing starters or reserves on the varsity team.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
