Kristin McDermott wins ACCU video contest
Kristin McDermott ’16 was recently named the winner of a video contest sponsored by the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities. The contest challenged college students to capture their feelings and actions related to Pope Francis’ September 2015 visit to the U.S.
McDermott was one of several students who traveled to Philadelphia last September to attend the Papal Mass for the World Meeting of Families 2015. The students also visited Gwynedd University to participate in discussions on the critical concerns of the Sisters of Mercy and met with members of the Mercy Volunteer Corps to learn about Project Home, a center that addresses hunger and homelessness in Philadelphia.
“It was important to both the other students who attended the trip and I that we convey the influence the crowds in Philly and the Pope’s messages had on us,” McDermott said of the video. “We each had a unique experience but what struck us most was his message of love and mercy reflected by the crowds.”
