Lemieux named rookie of the week
Starting pitcher Frank Lemieux ’17 has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference rookie of the week for baseball.
Lemieux posted a 1-0 record and a 1.23 ERA over 7-1/3 innings of work last week. After tossing 1-2/3 hitless innings in a 3-0 loss to Salem State University, he chalked up his first collegiate win in a 3-2 victory over St. Joseph’s College of Maine. In 5-2/3 innings of work, Lemieux allowed just one run on five hits, while striking out two and walking a pair.
Salve Regina won its last three games of the week, sweeping a conference-opening doubleheader with Curry College on Saturday before the win over St. Joseph’s on Sunday. Catcher Dominic Di Sano ’14 had a home run, a double and seven runs batted in during a 21-2 win against the Colonels.
The Seahawks (11-3) play at Rhode Island College at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25.
