Men’s ice hockey players earn conference honors
Three members of the men’s ice hockey team – Jack Billings ’20, Paul Boutoussov ’21 and Blake Wojtala ’19 – recently received honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Billings was named player of the week after factoring into five goals as the Seahawks swept Endicott College in a two-game series. In the road opener, he contributed two assists and a plus-three rating as Salve earned the 5-1 victory. Back at home, Billings pitched in two more assists and added a power play goal. He currently ranks No. 6 nationally in points per game.
Boutoussov was named rookie of the week after recording his first collegiate hat trick, scoring three goals in the 5-1 victory over Endicott. He also finished the week with a plus-three rating.
Wojtala was named goaltender of the week after helping Salve earn the two wins over Endicott. He allowed just one goal in the series opener Jan. 25 while making 43 stops in the 5-1 win. Wojtala followed that up with a 39-save performance Jan. 27 as Salve picked up the 6-2 victory.
The Seahawks (15-4-2, 10-2-2 CCC) have jumped to No. 6/7 in the nation. Their next game is Friday, Feb. 2, when they host Johnson & Wales University at 7 p.m. in a rematch of last season’s conference quarterfinal.
