Men’s lacrosse players earn conference honors
Men’s lacrosse players Pat Leary ’21 and Mike Mongelli ’19 recently received honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Leary was named rookie of the week after notching multiple goals in each of his first two contests for Salve Regina. In a 15-10 loss to Clark University, he netted four goals and added an assist. He then picked up six goals and an assist in a 22-3 win over Salem State University. Three of his goals came in man-down situations. In addition to his offensive output, Leary also had seven ground balls during the week.
Mongelli was named defensive player of the week after helping the Seahawks to a 1-1 week to open the season. He had 11 ground balls and six caused turnovers on the week. Seven of his ground balls came in the loss to Clark. Two of his caused turnovers also came in that game. He then had four ground balls and four caused turnovers in the win over Salem State.
The Seahawks host Wheaton College at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 in another non-conference matchup.
