Mercy Mondays: Prayer of mercy amid this pandemic
God of Mercy, you are with us and you accompany us.
Guide us to care for those who are most vulnerable, both our next-door neighbors and our neighbors around the world, in our shared commitment to the common good.
Guide us amidst the challenges of teaching and learning, leading and serving through new means and modalities as we seek to extend the work of a Mercy education in renewed forms in the coming days.
Inspire us to act directly for the good of our neighbor, offering outreach to those facing anxiety, loneliness, economic insecurity, food insecurity, and health insecurity.
Inspire us to indirect service through sustained practices of containment and prevention; may we willingly surrender our activity and our mobility to promote the health and well-being of all.
Catherine McAuley and the first Sisters of Mercy dedicated themselves to the care of neighbor in the cholera epidemic at their founding. May their witness grow our hearts as compassionate collaborators in mercy as we seek to respond with all we are to the needs of our local and global communities today.
Our Lady of Mercy, pray for us.
Amen.
