Panel to explore internships in accounting, financial management
Looking for a summer internship in a discipline such as accounting or financial management? An upcoming panel sponsored by the Accounting and Finance Club will help students learn firsthand from their peers about finding an internship, handling the interview and successfully completing the internship experience.
Scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23 in the O’Hare Academic Center, Room 229, the panel will explore internships in fields such as financial services, hospitality, insurance, government, manufacturing and public accounting.
“Our students secure highly desirable internships at international and world-class regional firms,” said Bonnie Kennedy, lecturer in the Department of Business Studies and Economics. “Many of these internships lead directly to permanent positions. Others provide valuable experience, which can lead to the next great internship or employment upon graduation.”
Student panelists have interned at the FDIC, Fidelity Investments, KPMG, CBIZ, Amica Mutual Insurance, Sikorsky Aircraft, Trumpf, Vibco, Corrigan Financial and Newport Harbor Corporation. “Salve students successfully compete with students from larger business schools to earn coveted internships like those at international accounting firms, government agencies, financial services and manufacturing firms,” Kennedy said.
