Reading club focusing on themes of diversity, inclusion
Want to read something out of the ordinary? Join the Inclusive Reading Club, a new monthly discussion group of short readings exploring diversity and inclusion from a multicultural perspective.
October’s meeting will feature readings from “Love Beyond Body, Space and Time: An Indigenous LGBT Sci-Fi Anthology,” edited by Hope Nicholson. The meeting will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 in the McKillop Library, Room 109.
Participants should read the introductions by Grace L. Dillon and Niigaan Sinclair along with the short stories “Legends Are Made, Not Born” by Cherie Dimaline and “Transitions” by Gwen Benaway. To receive the readings via email, contact Rose Albert or Gretchen Sotomayor, or stop by the library’s circulation desk.
November’s meeting, which will focus on Native American heritage, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21 in the CRC class space on the second floor of the library.
Members of the Salve Regina community who are unable to attend club meetings are invited to share their thoughts on the club’s online bulletin board. The Inclusive Reading Club is sponsored by the McKillop Library and the Office of Multicultural Programs and Retention.
