Salve Regina announces a new tradition called Salve Surprise Day
Surprise! A new tradition is coming.
When Dr. Kelli J. Armstrong became Salve Regina’s eighth president in 2019, she asked students what they would like to see more of on campus. “Traditions” was one of the more popular answers.
Building on an idea from Salve Regina’s faculty, President Armstrong has created “Salve Surprise Day.” The concept is simple – an annual day where something unexpected happens in order to give the campus community a small break from the norm and make people smile. The emphasis will be on fun and taking moments for self-care amidst the busy semester.
While COVID-19 presents many challenges, Salve Surprise Day will nevertheless launch in the weeks ahead. How will the campus community know it is Salve Surprise Day? The chapel bells will ring 73 times – one for each year since Salve Regina opened its gates to the first class of students in 1947.
Stay tuned and listen for the bells….
