Salve Regina community invited to shape up at Fit Camp
New Year’s resolutions have been made and spring break is right around the corner. If you are interested in getting more exercise and losing weight this year, consider participating in Fit Camp or personal training sessions through the Sullivan Fitness Center.
Personal trainer Heidi Jones and fitness center monitor Marcus Calhoun will lead Fit Camp, which consists of proper weight training, cardio and core conditioning, weekly workout assignments and pre- and post-fitness assessments, including body fat and girth measurements, strength and flexibility.
The camp will run from Jan. 28 to March 8 and will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The cost is $150. Those who register this week and pay in full or who bring a friend to register with them will receive a $25 discount.
Calhoun is also offering personal training specials to members of the Salve Regina community. For a limited time, an hour-long one-on-one session is just $30. Small group sessions (2-3 people) are $15 per person.
A personal trainer at the Newport Athletic Club, Jones is certified by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. With more than two decades of fitness experience, she specializes in Fit Camps, weight training, building muscle to burn fat and high-energy workouts.
Calhoun holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Rhode Island and was a walk-on at URI during the 2002-2003 football season. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and certified personal trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
