Field hockey team earns national academic award
The field hockey team has received the Academic Team Award from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). This marks the seventh consecutive year that the team has earned this honor.
In addition, 10 Seahawks were named to the NFHCA academic squad. They are Mary Cain ’16, Alexisse Clinger ’16, Erin Demers ’15, Marissa Gagnon ’16, Erin Gendreau ’17, Julia Grover ’16, Maddie Herman ’17, Kelsey Iwanicki ’17, Heather Kapatoes ’14 and Abigail Tepper ’16.
“Our players do a wonderful job of balancing the academic and athletic demands here at Salve Regina,” said head coach Jennifer Foster. “The 10 individual players recognized deserve this recognition and are strong examples for our entire team that you can be successful on the field and in the classroom.”
To be eligible for the individual honors, students are required to achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2013-2014 academic year. To be recognized for the academic team award, clubs must compile a combined GPA of at least 3.00 or better during the first semester of the 2013-2014 academic year.
