Salve Regina featured in Princeton Review’s ‘The Best 388 Colleges’ for 2023
Salve Regina has been included in the 31st edition of Princeton Review’s flagship college guide, “The Best 388 Colleges: 2023 Edition.” In addition to its overall inclusion as a best college in the nation, Princeton Review editors designated Salve Regina a Best Northeastern University, as well as listing it 9th overall for College City Gets High Marks and 17th overall for Most Beautiful Campus.
“We are genuinely delighted to recommend Salve Regina University to applicants who will be using this book and our website to search for their ‘best-fit’ college,” said Rob Franek, the publication’s editor-in-chief. “Our selection of the colleges in this book is based on our opinion of their academic offerings. We recommend each one as an academically outstanding choice for an applicant. Our ranking lists, however, are not based on our opinions of the colleges. They’re entirely based on what the schools’ own students have told us about their experiences at them.”
Only about 14% of the nation’s 2,700 four-year colleges are profiled in the book. Selections are based on data the company collects annually from college administrators about their institutions’ academic offerings. Princeton Review also considers data it gathers from its 85-question survey of 160,000 college students who rate and report on various aspects of their campus and community experiences. Salve Regina student responses indicated the following:
- Classroom facilities are great.
- Students get along with local community.
- Students involved in community service.
- Students environmentally aware.
- Students love Newport, Rhode Island.
- Active minority support groups.
“Princeton Review is one of the most respected and long-standing organizations in the U.S. in providing families insight into the college search, so for Salve Regina to be selected for inclusion in the ‘Best 388 Colleges’ publication is a notable accomplishment and point of institutional pride,” said Jim Fowler, vice president for enrollment management. “As Salve enters our 75th anniversary year, this recognition emphasizes the University’s evolution towards being recognized as one of the best colleges and universities in the country.”
“The Best 388 Colleges” is one of more than 150 Princeton Review books published by Penguin Random House. The annual book and its rankings have been featured on NBC’s TODAY Show more than a dozen times, and they are referenced by many other media, from National Public Radio to The Wall Street Journal and The Chronicle of Higher Education.
