Salve Regina honors Sexual Assault Survivor Month on April 11
April is Sexual Assault Survivor Month (SAAM), and departments across Salve Regina’s campus are going to be offering spaces for students, faculty and staff to share their stories and heal in community for SAAM on Tuesday, April 11.
“We must show our support for survivors during Sexual Assault Prevention Month by creating spaces for healing and providing information around bystander intervention and skills to be an effective supporter,” said McKenzie McNamara, health education and prevention coordinator in the Dean of Students Office.
Tuesday, April 11, will be a healing day where survivors and supporters can participate in different activities to see how healing can take many different forms. Whether it is personal reflection though journaling, giving back through service, practicing mindfulness, or embracing one’s body with physical activity — there are a lot of activities and spaces for students to explore.
“All of our programs and events during SAAM this year are planned around the theme of embracing hope, because we hope to cultivate a campus culture that is safe and supporting,” said McNamara.
All of the SAAM activities on Tuesday, April 11, are open to students, faculty and staff.
