Salve Regina, Husson kick off ECAC Division III championships
The football team will travel to Connecticut on Friday, Nov. 20 to play Husson University in the first of six Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III bowl championships. The Clayton Chapman Bowl will be played at 4 p.m. on Central Connecticut State University’s Arute Field.
Tickets are $10. Members of the Salve Regina community may call Athletics at (401) 341-2269 to request tickets at will call.
The Seahawks (7-2) finished as the runner-up in the New England Football Conference. This is their seventh appearance in an ECAC bowl, and the fourth since 2011. Last year the Seahawks climaxed their season with a 48-21 victory over Norwich University in the ECAC Northeast championship.
Salve Regina averages 469.1 yards of total offense and 36.1 points per game, while only allowing 282.1 yards and 19.1 points per game on defense.
This season, running back Sam Pascale ’17 became the sixth player in school history to eclipse 2,000 career rushing yards (2,145), and he needs just 14 more rushing yards to set a new single-season record for Salve Regina. Quarterback Brandan Basil ’17 has produced a program-high 153.3 pass efficiency mark, and his 235.0 passing yards per game are the best all-time for any Seahawk quarterback.
