Seahawk athletes earn conference honors
Congratulations to the following student athletes, who received honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) for the week of Oct. 8:
Field hockey
Kelly Burke ’13 was named the player of the week, Murphy McCann ’15 was named the defensive player of the week and Abigail Tepper ’16 was named the rookie of the week.
These three players helped lead the Seahawks to a perfect 2-0 record last week, including an 8-1 victory over Regis College and an exciting 2-1 conference win versus the University of New England.
Men’s cross country
For the fourth time this season, Sean Hughes ’16 was named the rookie of the week. He finished 53rd in a field of 430 runners at the James Earley Invitational at Westfield State University last Saturday. Hughes completed the 8000-meter course in 27:46, finishing second among all conference runners while leading the Seahawks ahead of nine other schools.
Women’s cross country
Aubrey Palmquist ’16 was named rookie of the week for the second time this season. She finished 41st overall in a field of more than 450 runners at the James Earley Invitational last Saturday. Palmquist completed the 6,000-meter course in 23:58, leading the Seahawks to a 14th place finish out of 43 schools, ranking second among all CCC member institutions.
